Spotlight Event: Greater Yellowstone Crane Festival

September 23rd – 26th, 2026 | Teton Regional Land Trust – 1520 S. 500 W., Driggs, ID 83422 | Events at various locations throughout Teton Valley

Every September, tens of thousands of Sandhill Cranes descend on Teton Valley for their annual pre-migration staging — one of the largest gatherings of the species in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The 9th Annual Greater Yellowstone Crane Festival, presented by Teton Regional Land Trust, celebrates this spectacle with a four-day program of guided morning crane tours, photography and poetry workshops, keynote speakers, crane-themed art shows, live storytelling, dance performances, and a community fair at Driggs City Center Plaza. Much of the festival is free or low cost, and the main community fair — with live music, kids’ activities, an art and sculpture auction, and local food vendors — is open to all. All proceeds support the Greater Yellowstone Sandhill Crane Initiative, which works to secure and manage habitat in Teton Valley for this iconic species. Even if you’ve never thought much about Sandhill Cranes, watching thousands of them rise from a Teton Valley field at dawn is an experience that tends to make an impression.
